What is PRP Treatment ?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy is a treatment that uses your own blood to help heal and regenerate tissue. A small amount of blood is taken, processed to concentrate platelets, and then injected into the affected area.PRP is commonly used for:

  • Hair Loss: It stimulates hair follicles to encourage hair regrowth, helping with thinning hair.
  • Skin Rejuvenation: It enhances collagen production, which helps smooth fine lines and improve skin texture.

Benefits of PRP Treatment

  • Completely Natural and Safe: Since PRP uses your own blood, there’s no risk of bad reactions or side effects.
  • No Downtime: It’s a quick, non-surgical treatment, so you can get back to your normal routine right after.
  • Long-Lasting Effects: PRP boosts your body’s natural healing, meaning you’ll see gradual improvements that last, whether it’s for hair growth or skin rejuvenation.
  • Healthier Hair Growth: Perfect for those dealing with thinning hair or early hair loss.
  • Youthful, Radiant Skin: It smooths out wrinkles, improves skin texture, and gives you a healthy glow.
  • Minimally Invasive: It’s a simple and fast procedure without the need for surgery or long recovery.

How PRP Works ?

By using your body’s natural healing power, PRP therapy works as follows:

Blood Drawn

A small amount of your blood is drawn, similar to a regular blood test.

Processing

The blood is placed in a centrifuge machine, which separates the platelets and plasma from the rest of the blood components. This process concentrates the healing properties of your blood.

Injection

The platelet-rich plasma, full of growth factors, is carefully injected into the targeted area — such as an injured joint, tendon, or the scalp for hair restoration.

Healing

The PRP stimulates healing by encouraging tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and promoting the regeneration of healthy cells, speeding up recovery and improving overall health in the treated area.

What to Expect During PRP Hair Treatment ?

  • Consultation: Dr. Manisha Patil will evaluate your scalp and hair loss pattern to determine if PRP is the right solution for you. We will discuss your goals and create a personalized treatment plan.
  • PRP Preparation: A small amount of blood is drawn, and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is prepared for treatment.

  • Injection Session: PRP is injected into areas of thinning hair. The process is quick, and most patients feel only mild pressure or discomfort, with cooling methods used to reduce any discomfort.
  • Post-Treatment Care: After the session, Dr. Manisha will provide aftercare instructions to help maximize the benefits and support optimal results. With time, you’ll notice improved hair density and health.

FAQ's

PRP treatment involves drawing a small amount of your blood, processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and then injecting this platelet-rich plasma back into the treatment area. The concentrated platelets release growth factors that stimulate your body’s natural healing process, promoting tissue regeneration and cellular repair.

A complete PRP session usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. This includes blood draw (5 to 10 minutes), processing time (10 to 15 minutes), and the actual injection procedure (15 to 30 minutes depending on the treatment area).

The blood draw feels similar to a routine blood test, just a small pinch when the needle goes in. We typically need 10 to 20ml of blood, which is much less than a standard blood donation.

PRP can treat hair loss, facial rejuvenation, joint pain, tendon injuries, and wound healing. Good candidates are generally healthy adults with realistic expectations. You may not be suitable if you have blood disorders, certain cancers, or are on blood-thinning medications.

Most patients need 3 to 4 initial treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months. Results typically become visible after the second or third session.

Since PRP uses your own blood, serious adverse reactions are rare. Common mild side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours.

You can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. However, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours and avoiding anti-inflammatory medications for a few days as they may interfere with the healing process.

Before treatment, avoid anti-inflammatory medications, alcohol, and smoking for 48 hours. Stay well-hydrated. After treatment, avoid NSAIDs, excessive sun exposure, and harsh skincare products for 24 to 48 hours.

Results can last 6 to 18 months depending on the treatment area and individual factors. Hair restoration results may last 1 to 2 years, while facial rejuvenation effects typically last 6 to 12 months before maintenance is needed.

PRP for cosmetic purposes is typically not covered by insurance. Costs vary by treatment area and location. Some therapeutic applications may have partial insurance coverage.
