Hysteroscopy is about seeing clearly and treating gently. Whether you’re investigating heavy or irregular bleeding, recurrent miscarriages, or suspected intra-uterine problems, our hysteroscopy service combines high-definition visualization with minimally invasive treatment so you get answers and often solutions, in one carefully planned visit. Dr. Manisha Patil leads each case, bringing surgical skill and patient-first communication to every step.

What is Hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is a direct visual exam of the uterine cavity using a thin, lighted telescope (a hysteroscope) inserted through the cervix. It allows your clinician to inspect the uterine lining, diagnose causes of abnormal bleeding, and perform targeted treatments (polyp removal, removal of adhesions, targeted biopsy) without abdominal incisions.

Why it’s recommended

  • Abnormal uterine bleeding (heavy, irregular, or post-menopausal).

  • Recurrent miscarriage or infertility evaluation (to inspect cavity shape, polyps, adhesions).

  • Suspected intra-uterine lesions: polyps, submucous fibroids, retained products.

  • Investigation of unexplained pelvic pain or abnormal uterine imaging.

  • Follow-up after prior uterine surgery to check healing or remove scar tissue.

How hysteroscopy works

  1. The hysteroscope (thin telescope with light and camera) is passed through the cervix into the uterine cavity.

  2. The cavity is gently distended with saline so the lining can be examined in high definition.

  3. If needed, tiny instruments are passed through the hysteroscope to take biopsies, remove polyps, cut adhesions (synechiae), or resect small fibroids.

  4. The procedure can be performed in the office (diagnostic) or in a day-care theatre under sedation/general anaesthesia for operative cases.

Who is an ideal candidate?

  • Patients with persistent abnormal bleeding or spotting.
  • Women experiencing repeated implantation failure or early pregnancy loss where cavity pathology is suspected.
  • Those with ultrasound findings suggesting polyps, submucous fibroids, or retained tissue.
  • Patients needing a minimally invasive, fertility-preserving option for cavity problems.

How many visits & follow-up

  • Single-visit diagnostic: If findings are normal or only observation is needed.
  • One & done (diagnose + treat): Many small polyps or minor adhesions can be removed during the same operative session.
  • Staged care: Complex resections or fertility planning may require 1 to 2 scheduled procedures with interval healing checks.
  • Routine follow-up: 1 to 2 weeks for recovery review, pathology results in 7 to 14 days when biopsies are sent.
